Eagles Star Fined $11.5K for Iconic Iverson Taunt

On October 7th, 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles faced their first loss of the season, falling 21-17 to the Denver Broncos in a comeback victory. However, the bigger news came earlier in the month, when Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean was fined $11,593 by the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct.

DeJean made a big play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, tackling running back Rachaad White before getting up and walking over him in a gesture reminiscent of Allen Iverson's famous "step-over" on Tyronn Lue. This disrespectful move did not sit well with the league, and DeJean was promptly fined.

Despite the penalty, the Eagles went on to win that game 31-25. However, their perfect start to the season came to an end on October 6th, when the Denver Broncos staged an impressive comeback. Trailing 17-3 in the final quarter, the Broncos scored 18 unanswered points, including a game-winning field goal in the final minute, to hand the Eagles their first loss.

DeJean, a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had a standout rookie season, helping the Eagles win the Super Bowl. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and made a crucial interception in the big game. The young cornerback will look to bounce back from the fine and help the Eagles get back on track as they prepare to face the division rival New York Giants on Thursday Night Football.
