Ducks Face Elimination in Vegas

The Anaheim Ducks now face an elimination scenario following a Game 5 overtime defeat against the Vegas Golden Knights. This playoff run marks uncharted territory for most of the Ducks' roster, with fifteen players experiencing postseason hockey for the first time. The team is preparing for a must-win Game 6 at the Honda Center, aiming to force a decisive Game 7.

Despite a strong showing in terms of scoring chances and possession, the Ducks fell short in Game 5. Key moments included Vegas scoring on the power play and capitalizing on a rebound in overtime. While the Ducks' younger players have shown resilience, the veteran Golden Knights have consistently found ways to win, especially in overtime, remaining undefeated in such situations throughout the playoffs.

The Ducks acknowledge their strong performance in many aspects of the game, including outshooting their opponent on the road. However, they recognize the need to execute in critical moments. Coach Joel Quenneville expressed confidence in his team's ability to handle the pressure of playing with their backs against the wall, emphasizing an exciting opportunity to play hard and simple at home.

The team is drawing on their season-long ability to come back from adversity. Despite the disappointment of the loss, a confident group of Ducks players is eager to compete in the next game, ready to show their capabilities on home ice and extend their playoff stay.
