Borussia Dortmund secured a vital 2-0 win against VfB Stuttgart, a result that confirmed their second-place league standing. Coach Niko Kovač described the match as a tense affair, highlighting both teams' strong resolve not to lose, which limited the overall entertainment value.
Kovač noted the first half was challenging, with Dortmund struggling to win duels and maintain possession. He praised the team's improved defensive efforts in the second half, which created the opportunity for their late winning goals. Defensive player Nico Schlotterbeck echoed these thoughts, admitting that luck played a role in their victory, especially in seizing the two late chances at the MHP Arena.
Schlotterbeck also emphasized Dortmund's consistent mentality throughout the season and was pleased to maintain another clean sheet, particularly at a venue where few teams achieve such a defensive success.
