Dolphins Tackle Jackson Nears Return, Brewer Injury Concern Emerges

As the Miami Dolphins prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders, the team is dealing with a mix of good and bad news on the offensive line front. Head coach Mike McDaniel has indicated that tackle Austin Jackson, who has been on injured reserve since the season opener, will be designated to return and begin practicing this week.

While Jackson's return is a positive development, the Dolphins have also suffered a new setback, with center Aaron Brewer sustaining an injury during the team's 30-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. Brewer, who has been a key part of the Dolphins' offensive line this season, will not be practicing on Wednesday as he works to recover from the issue.

The Dolphins' offensive line has been a concern throughout the early part of the 2025 campaign, with several key players dealing with injuries. In addition to Jackson, guard James Daniels and guard/center Andrew Meyer remain on injured reserve, while Liam Eichenberg has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list since the start of training camp.

With the Dolphins enjoying a bye week next week, the team may opt to give Jackson an additional week to fully recover before activating him for game action. In Jackson's absence, free agent pickup Larry Borom has been starting at right tackle and performing admirably.

The loss of Daniels, however, has been particularly significant, as the Dolphins have had to shuffle multiple players through that position since his early-season injury. The team will be hoping that Brewer's issue is not too serious, as he has been a steady presence in the middle of the offensive line.
