Summary
- Dolphins went 8-9 in 2024, missed playoffs
- Coach McDaniel led team to 11 wins in 2023
- CBS Sports' Prisco expects Dolphins to finish 4th in AFC East
As the 2025 NFL season approaches, the Miami Dolphins are facing an uphill battle in the AFC East. According to CBS Sports' Pete Prisco, the Dolphins are poised to take a step back after a promising 2023 campaign.
In his first two seasons as Dolphins head coach, Mike McDaniel guided the team to a 9-win season in 2024, followed by an 11-win year and a playoff berth in 2023. However, Prisco believes the Dolphins will regress in Year 3 under McDaniel's leadership.
Prisco, who recently appeared on 104.3 WQAM's "The Joe Rose Show," shared his predictions for the AFC East standings. He expects the Buffalo Bills to remain the division's top team, with the New England Patriots and New York Jets finishing second and third, respectively. As for the Dolphins, Prisco believes they will end up in last place, despite their offseason improvements.
The analyst cited concerns about the Dolphins' secondary and offensive line as key factors behind his pessimistic outlook. While he acknowledged the team's strong defensive line, Prisco believes the Dolphins have too many questions in other areas to challenge for the division title.
