In a surprising turn of events, long-snapper Blake Ferguson has returned to the NFL after a nearly 10-month absence. The Houston Texans announced on Wednesday that they have signed Ferguson, who had previously played for the Miami Dolphins.
Ferguson was drafted by the Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft, replacing long-time snapper John Denney. However, his tenure with the Dolphins came to an abrupt end in May 2024 when he was among four players released by the team.
To make room for Ferguson, the Texans have waived tight end Tre' McKitty. Ferguson will now join rookie Austin Brinkman as the two long-snappers on the Houston roster. Interestingly, Ferguson's older brother, Reid, is the long-time snapper for the Buffalo Bills.
The circumstances surrounding Ferguson's mysterious disappearance from the Dolphins remain unclear, but his return to the league with the Texans is sure to be a welcome development for the player and his new team.
