The Miami Dolphins, despite being eliminated from playoff contention, are using their final game of the season against the New England Patriots as a critical evaluation period for their young talent. This Week 18 matchup presents an opportunity to assess which players can be part of the team's future building blocks.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers, in particular, will be under the spotlight. Having shown flashes of potential in his first two starts, including a two-touchdown performance in a recent win, Ewers has a chance to solidify his status as a potential starter against a formidable Patriots defense vying for a top playoff seed.
Other key players like running back Jaylen Wright, tight end Greg Dulcich, defensive tackle Kenneth Grant, and cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. will also have significant roles. This game is vital for them to demonstrate their progress and prove their value to the coaching staff as the Dolphins look to identify foundational talent for the upcoming seasons.
