Kyle Louis Switches Positions for Miami Dolphins

Kyle Louis, the 138th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, has officially been listed as a safety on the Miami Dolphins roster. Previously a linebacker at Pitt, Louis is a hybrid player who can line up anywhere. This transition is not surprising, as he played safety in high school and has been taking reps at the position during training camp.

Louis, standing at 6 feet and 220 pounds, might be undersized for a pure linebacker, but his speed (4.53 40-yard dash) and agility are assets for a safety role. His play recognition and past performance, including 182 tackles and six interceptions in two seasons, indicate his potential to contribute immediately.

The Dolphins' linebacker room remains strong with captain Jordyn Brooks, while the safety room is notably thin. Louis's move addresses this depth issue, joining Dante Trader Jr. and Zayne Anderson.
