Heading into the 2025 MLB postseason, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto has earned his second National League Pitcher of the Month Award this year. The 27-year-old Japanese right-hander dominated in September, posting a minuscule 0.67 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 4 starts.
Yamamoto, who previously won the award in April, will look to continue his stellar form when he takes the mound for the Dodgers in Game 2 of their National League Wild Card Series against the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers won the opening game 10-5 at home on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters ahead of his start, Yamamoto expressed confidence, saying he is "calm and ready" and plans to take the game "one out at a time." The pitcher, who finished the regular season with the second-best ERA in the NL at 2.49, acknowledged the importance of the upcoming game but insisted his mindset hasn't changed much, as he has simply focused on executing his game plan.
