The Los Angeles Dodgers welcomed back star first baseman Freddie Freeman on Tuesday after he was activated from the paternity list. He is currently batting .296 with three home runs and 14 RBIs over 20 games this season.
In other team news, left-handed pitcher Blake Snell, 33, is scheduled to commence his rehab stint on Wednesday. He will pitch for Class A Ontario as he works through fatigue in his pitching shoulder. Snell experienced left shoulder issues last season as well.
Additionally, the Dodgers optioned outfielder/infielder Ryan Ward to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 28-year-old made his major league debut on Sunday, recording two hits and an RBI in two games. Ward was the Pacific Coast League MVP last season, hitting 36 home runs with 122 RBIs.
