Dodgers Dominate NL West Poll: Experts Pick LA Over Padres
29 Apr
Summary
- Executives overwhelmingly favor Dodgers as best NL West team.
- Dodgers match Braves for best MLB record at 20-9.
- Padres' regulars show low offensive production early on.
Industry executives have reached a consensus, overwhelmingly choosing the Los Angeles Dodgers as the superior team in the National League West, despite the San Diego Padres' 19-9 start. The Dodgers, currently tied with the Atlanta Braves for MLB's best record at 20-9, boast strong underlying numbers, ranking first in the National League in runs allowed and second in runs scored.
The Padres, while seventh in runs allowed and eighth in runs scored, are experiencing underperformance from several regular hitters. Their pitching staff has also been impacted by injuries. Both teams expect to improve as key players like Mookie Betts and Edwin Diaz return for the Dodgers, and Lucas Giolito joins the Padres.
