- Jackie Robinson Day honors the 1947 color barrier breaking.

On April 15, 2026, Major League Baseball, and particularly the Los Angeles Dodgers, will commemorate Jackie Robinson Day. This date marks the anniversary of Robinson breaking baseball's color barrier in 1947. The Dodgers, where Robinson played his entire 10-year career, hold this day in special regard.
Annually, a pregame ceremony takes place at Dodger Stadium, bringing together the Dodgers, their opponents, and members of the Robinson family. This year's event will include Jackie Robinson Foundation scholars and Robinson's granddaughters. The UCLA women's basketball team, fresh off their national championship win, will also participate by throwing out the first pitch with their trophy.
In a unique tribute, the Dodgers will swap their usual "LA" interlocking logo for the "B" of Brooklyn on their hats. All 29 other MLB teams will also wear Robinson's iconic number 42. The game against the New York Mets will be televised nationally on ESPN.
