Dodgers Reinforce Roster: Key Players Return from IL

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Tuesday afternoon the activation of catcher Will Smith and left-hander Justin Wrobleski from the injured list. Catcher Dalton Rushing has also been activated, and infielder Alex Freeland has been added to the MLB roster. To accommodate these moves, outfielder Alek Thomas and catcher Ben Rortvedt have been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Smith, an All-Star in recent seasons, returns after a neck injury sidelined him since June 5. Rushing, who stepped in as the primary catcher, is back from an arm injury sustained on August 1. Wrobleski, an All-Star this year, rejoins the team after dealing with a forearm injury that began around July 28.
These activations come as other key pitchers, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow, are also nearing full strength, with Glasnow having been activated last week. Shohei Ohtani continues to serve as the designated hitter while recovering from knee and biceps issues. The Dodgers currently lead the NL West by 9.5 games and are vying for top seeding in the National League.
