Dodgers Activate Hernández, Bolster Playoff Hopes

As of August 26th, 2025, the Los Angeles Dodgers have taken a significant step towards strengthening their roster for the playoff race, activating veteran utility player Kiké Hernández from the injured list. Hernández, who had been sidelined since July 6th with left elbow inflammation, is now available off the bench and is expected to start games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Dodgers are currently locked in a tight battle with the San Diego Padres for the NL West division lead, having lost two of three games to their rivals over the past weekend. The return of Hernández, who has played in 72 games this season, hitting .195 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs, is a welcome boost for the team as they aim to secure their spot in the postseason.

Manager Dave Roberts expressed his appreciation for the players who have been "grinding through" the team's injury woes, but acknowledged the importance of getting their key players back. In addition to Hernández, the Dodgers are also expecting the return of third baseman Max Muncy, infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman, and several relief pitchers in the coming weeks.
