The reigning two-time World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired two-time American League Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal in a significant trade. Skubal's arrival precedes a recent seven-game losing streak for the Dodgers, though the team's ultimate goal of securing a championship remains paramount. Skubal, who is 29 years old, is focused on contributing to the Dodgers' pursuit of a third consecutive title.

Addressing his impending free agency, Skubal stated his excitement about being in Los Angeles but deferred discussions on the "business side." He emphasized his alignment with the Dodgers' championship aspirations and his readiness to compete. Skubal's early performances for the Dodgers included six strikeouts over six innings in his debut, followed by six strikeouts in five innings during his second start.

Although no extension is official, Los Angeles is viewed as the frontrunner to retain Skubal, benefiting from acquiring him before free agency. His agent, Scott Boras, indicated that the trade provides an advantage for both parties to evaluate a future partnership.
