29 Oct
Summary
- Djokovic won a comeback three-set match in the first round.
- Struff secured a routine straight-sets victory in his opener.
- Djokovic holds a perfect 8-0 head-to-head record against Struff.
Novak Djokovic advanced to the second round of the Swiss Indoors 2026 in Basel after a hard-fought comeback victory. The fourth seed dropped the opening set against Ugo Humbert but regrouped to secure a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Djokovic's next opponent will be Jan-Lennard Struff, who demonstrated strong form in his first-round match. Struff achieved a comfortable 6-4, 6-3 victory over fellow German Yannick Hanfmann, without facing a single break point.
The head-to-head record heavily favors Djokovic, who has won all eight of their previous encounters, including their last meeting at the US Open 2025. Djokovic is seeking to extend his successful history at the Swiss Indoors, where he won on his debut in 2009.
