Clarke Returns to Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks have added right-handed pitcher Taylor Clarke to their bullpen on a one-year agreement valued at $1.5 million, with incentives potentially increasing the total to over $2 million. Clarke, 32, is familiar with the organization, having been drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2015 and pitching for them from 2019 to 2021 before his departure.

Following his initial tenure with Arizona, Clarke spent three seasons with the Kansas City Royals, appearing in 156 games. Last season, he posted a 3.25 ERA in 51 appearances and demonstrated remarkable control, allowing very few walks. The Diamondbacks intend to utilize his ability to provide multiple innings of relief from the bullpen.

General Manager Mike Hazen expressed satisfaction with the signing, citing Clarke's established profile and history with the team as a good fit. This acquisition follows the earlier addition of Jonathan Loáisiga, and Hazen indicated that further improvements to the bullpen are anticipated before the start of Spring Training on February 10.
