Packers' Wyatt Out for Season After Ankle Injury

Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt's season has officially concluded due to an ankle injury. The injury, sustained during the Thanksgiving Day victory over the Detroit Lions, has sidelined the 2022 first-round pick for the remainder of the year. Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed the severity of the injury, expressing that Wyatt has been playing his best football and will be tough to replace.

Wyatt's absence comes at a critical point in the season as the Packers prepare for a significant matchup against the Chicago Bears. In his ten starts this season, Wyatt recorded 27 tackles and four sacks, demonstrating his disruptive presence in both run defense and pass rushing. He had previously missed games due to a knee issue in October but had been in strong form leading up to his latest injury.

The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter when teammate Warren Brinson accidentally rolled into Wyatt's leg while attempting to shed a block. Brinson expressed remorse for the incident, acknowledging the inherent injury risk in football. With Wyatt out, other defensive linemen such as Brinson, Nazir Stackhouse, and potentially Karl Brooks upon his return, will be expected to increase their contributions and fill the void.
