Browns' Denzel Ward Invests in Cleveland Guardians

Browns cornerback Denzel Ward has purchased a stake in the Cleveland Guardians, becoming a minority investor in his hometown MLB franchise. Ward, who grew up in Macedonia, Ohio, joins fellow NFL star Travis Kelce, who also invested in the Guardians earlier this year. The team's ownership has been in flux, with Paul Dolan's family selling a pathway to controlling interest to David Blitzer. Blitzer's first option to take over majority control is scheduled for after the 2027 season, though Dolan intends to remain as a minority owner. Blitzer, who has extensive sports ownership interests, including stakes in the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, has spearheaded the recent additions of Kelce and Ward to the Guardians' ownership group. Forbes estimated the Guardians' franchise value at $1.66 billion in the spring, ranking 26th among MLB teams, while the team consistently carries one of the league's lowest payrolls.
