25 Feb
Summary
- Doctor feared Deion Sanders might lose his leg.
- Sanders had surgery for blood clots in October.
- New technology offers optimism for Sanders' health.

A doctor for Colorado football coach Deion Sanders revealed significant concern that the coach might require a leg amputation. This worry stemmed from witnessing Sanders' pain during a game last October against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
Sanders underwent surgery to address blood clots following the game. His vascular surgeon, Don Jacobs, recently shared his concerns, noting that he was worried about Sanders losing a leg. However, Jacobs expressed optimism due to advancements in medical technology that are improving treatment outcomes.
Sanders has a history of blood circulation issues and blood clots in his lower body since 2021. Despite previous amputations on his left leg, including the removal of part of his calf and two toes, he has remained active. He also had a cancerous bladder removed in May.
Despite the past health battles, Sanders' doctor believes his chances of future trouble are small. The coach is preparing for Colorado's spring practice, which begins March 2 and concludes with a scrimmage on April 11.
