Judge Michael E. Romero noted the potential conflict during a pre-trial conference, recognizing that the University of Colorado's first game falls within the trial's duration. The substantial debt primarily originates from an incident in 2022 where John Darjean, a former security guard, was awarded an $11.89 million judgment against Shilo Sanders following an alleged assault. Colorado's football season officially kicks off on September 3.
