29 Oct
Summary
- Fortune Barishal, the defending BPL champions, withdraws from next 5 seasons
- 11 organizations submit bids to own BPL franchises
- BCB receives 900-page report on corruption allegations in previous BPL season

As of October 29th, 2025, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that the defending champions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Fortune Barishal, will not be participating in the tournament for the next 5 seasons. The team, owned by Fortune Shoes, has requested the BCB to reschedule the tournament, citing their inability to form a team in the short time frame.
In a separate development, the BCB has received 11 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from various organizations looking to own BPL franchises. These include companies such as Champions Sports Limited, Triangle Services Limited, and Bangla Mark Limited, among others. The BCB will now assess the financial strength of these bidders and conduct individual interviews before finalizing the new franchise owners.
Additionally, the BCB has received a comprehensive 900-page report from an independent inquiry committee that was investigating integrity issues and corruption allegations in the previous BPL season. The committee, formed earlier this year, has provided the BCB with guidelines and recommendations based on its findings. While the BCB has not disclosed the names of individuals involved, they have stated that any charge-sheeted cricketers will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming domestic tournaments.
