Portnoy Slams OSU: 'Kick Them Out!'
8 Sep
Summary
- Portnoy criticizes Ohio State's Week 1 Senior Day.
- He argues the Buckeyes should be removed from the conference.
- Ohio State won its opener 56-3 despite the controversy.
Dave Portnoy, a vocal Michigan supporter, has voiced strong disapproval of Ohio State's decision to conduct Senior Day during their season-opening game on September 5, 2026. He deemed the move "one of the strangest, dumbest things" and suggested the Buckeyes should face conference expulsion for the unconventional timing.
Portnoy argued that the ceremony should have remained in its traditional late-season slot, especially before facing rivals Michigan. His co-host Brandon Walker supported this, questioning head coach Ryan Day's ability to focus the team if Senior Day preceded the Michigan game.
Despite Portnoy's critique, Ohio State achieved a resounding 56-3 victory over Ball State on September 5, 2026. The Buckeyes honored 31 seniors before the game, and quarterback Julian Sayin delivered a notable performance, throwing for 320 yards as the team opened the season ranked No. 1.
