Maryland linebacker Daniel Wingate is among the 68 early contenders for the 2026 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded annually to the nation's top defensive player. Wingate's selection underscores his emergence as one of college football's elite defensive talents.

In his 2025 junior season, Wingate achieved Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors and was voted Team MVP by his peers.
