Dani Gibson, an England all-rounder, has been appointed captain of the Sunrisers Leeds for the upcoming 2026 season of The Hundred. This marks Gibson's first professional captaincy role, with the tournament set to begin in late July.
Gibson was acquired by the Headingley-based franchise for GBP 190,000 during the inaugural auction, establishing her as England's highest-paid female player in the competition. She takes over leadership from Hollie Armitage, who captained the team to their maiden title last year.
Armitage has since been signed by MI London for GBP 45,000 and named captain of that franchise. Gibson will lead a formidable Sunriser Leeds squad, which includes notable international players such as Annabel Sutherland and Phoebe Litchfield.
This appointment follows Charlie Dean's recent naming as captain for London Spirit. Gibson previously played for London Spirit from 2021, accumulating 444 runs and 20 wickets in 39 appearances. She is currently part of the England squad for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup.
