Manager Torey Lovullo admitted to feeling betrayed by Marte's actions but stated he has moved past that frustration. A meeting occurred on Thursday between Marte, Lovullo, and general manager Mike Hazen. Shortly after, the 32-year-old second baseman was placed on the 10-day injured list due to left knee inflammation, a condition Marte reportedly cited as a source of his frustration.

Marte, a key player hitting .249 with 21 homers and 67 RBIs this season, was not present in the clubhouse on Friday. Lovullo emphasized the need for better conduct, acknowledging Marte's role in the drama. Despite this incident, Marte's long tenure with the team and his significant contributions, including 1,215 hits and 189 home runs since 2017, mean the D-backs are invested in finding a resolution.

This is not the first time Marte has had a notable absence; last season, he went on the restricted list after his home was burglarized, leading him to travel to the Dominican Republic.
