The incident required intervention from Chicago police and security personnel.

Following the brawl, three individuals were arrested. One fan faced charges of misdemeanor battery and felony possession of over 15 grams of cocaine. Two other fans were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass. The fight reportedly began with a verbal dispute between fans of opposing teams, escalating when one fan initiated physical contact.

The scuffle quickly involved several more fans, with punches thrown and individuals falling down the stadium's tiered seating. Security eventually intervened to separate the combatants. One fan sustained a bleeding nose during the melee. The Cubs ultimately won the game 7-5.
