CSK Shuts Down Samson Trade Rumors with Hilarious Video
8 Nov
Summary
- CSK releases video mocking trade rumor involving CEO
- Speculation about Sanju Samson's potential move to CSK
- CSK unlikely to make major squad changes despite poor 2025 season

As the IPL 2026 retention deadline approaches, speculation about star player trades has been dominating social media in recent weeks. One of the prominent rumors has been the potential move of Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, CSK has now put an end to these rumors with a hilarious video featuring their CEO Kasi Viswanathan and their mascot, Leo. The video appears to reference the chatter around Samson's future, with a popular Tamil song featuring a Malayalam verse.
In the video, Viswanathan jokingly addresses a rumor that he was going to be traded to Punjab Kings in exchange for Preity Zinta. He urges fans and followers of the franchise not to believe in trade rumors until such deals, if any, are made official by the five-time champions.
"Trade rumors are subject to mental health risks. Wait till the official announcement for sanity," CSK said in the video.
Despite finishing last in IPL 2025, the first time the five-time champions have finished with a wooden spoon, CSK is unlikely to make sweeping changes to their squad. MS Dhoni is all set to continue playing for the Super Kings in IPL 2026, having been retained as an uncapped player last year.
The team will, however, have to deal with the absence of R Ashwin, who retired from international cricket last year before calling time on his IPL career earlier in 2025. Ashwin's departure will add Rs 9.75 crore to CSK's purse as they look to bolster their spin attack.
