CSK's Mystery Batting Order: Samson at 3, Mhatre Opens!

Former India opener Aakash Chopra has outlined his preferred Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lineup ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. In a surprising move, Sanju Samson, acquired in a high-profile trade, has been placed at number three in Chopra's eleven, rather than his usual opening position.

Chopra opted for Ayush Mhatre to partner Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order, impressed by Mhatre's performance in limited chances. He also stressed the critical need for CSK to secure a potent number four batter, suggesting potential overseas options like David Miller or Liam Livingstone.

The team's spin attack also requires bolstering, with Chopra recommending Ravi Bishnoi or Rahul Chahar. This strategic lineup addresses CSK's needs following a last-place finish in IPL 2025 and considering departures of key spinners.
