Summary
- Croix Bethune set a new NWSL single-season record with 11 assists.
- She broke her own previous record of 10 assists from 2024.
- Bethune returned from a hip injury to achieve this historic feat.
Croix Bethune, a midfielder for the Kansas City Current, has etched her name in the NWSL history books by setting a new single-season assist record with 11. This remarkable achievement came during Sunday's match against the Washington Spirit, where her assist in the 17th minute secured a 2-1 victory for her team.
This record surpasses Bethune's previous mark of 10 assists, which she set in her rookie year in 2024, a record she previously shared. The midfielder's return to the field after a hip injury, which also caused her to miss matches for the United States women's national team, adds another layer to this significant accomplishment.
Bethune's performance this season includes four goals in addition to her record-setting assists. Her transfer from the Washington Spirit to Kansas City in February for a total of $1 million highlights her value. The Current are now poised for the NWSL quarterfinals, set to begin in November, holding a strong home record at CPKC Stadium.
