The evolution of T20 cricket has brought the role of throwdown specialists to the forefront of team preparation. These experts, often seen with specialized equipment like sidearms, allow batters to perfect shots and gain repetitions at high speeds, mimicking match intensity that regular bowlers cannot consistently provide. Delhi Capitals features three such specialists, each with a unique story.

Aniket Berde, a 35-year-old from Mumbai, possesses the rare ability to be ambidextrous, throwing with both his left and right hands. He transitioned from a right-handed bowler to developing his left-handed throwdown skills, becoming a valuable asset over his year with the franchise.

Darshan, at 32, brings eight years of experience and a different perspective, having played at junior levels before a back injury shifted his focus. He stresses that for a throwdown specialist, precision in hitting the desired length and generating swing or yorkers is more important than raw pace.

Sai Pendam, the third specialist, joined the ranks after his playing career as an off-spinner was cut short. Despite a challenging start with shoulder pain, his dedication led him to be noticed by the Delhi Capitals coaching staff, and he has since participated in multiple ILT20 and IPL seasons.
