Cowboys Eyeing Sweat: A Trade for Dominance?

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering a significant trade acquisition in Arizona Cardinals' edge rusher Josh Sweat. Sweat has been notably absent from Cardinals training camp, with the team citing "knee maintenance." However, reports indicate Sweat previously demanded a trade in January, and his current absence is fueling speculation about his future.

The Cowboys have previously attempted to acquire Sweat and view him as a potential major upgrade for their defense in the 2026 season. Sweat's addition would significantly enhance Dallas's pass-rushing capabilities, complementing their existing starters and first-round draft pick.

Arizona, currently in a rebuilding phase, may be open to moving Sweat, especially after paying his option bonus. His contract includes over $9.7 million in salary for the current year, with approximately three years and $44 million remaining. Dallas is reportedly willing to offer draft compensation, potentially from the highly-regarded 2027 draft class.
