Summary
- Cowboys claim RB Tyler Goodson off Falcons' practice squad.
- Goodson led Falcons in preseason rushing with 93 yards.
- Cowboys needed depth after Malik Davis' injury.

The Dallas Cowboys have secured running back Tyler Goodson, claiming him off the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad. This move occurred on Tuesday morning, as reported by NFL insider Aaron Wilson. Goodson, aged 25, had a notable performance during the Falcons' training camp and preseason, leading the team in rushing with 93 yards on 5.1 yards per carry, including a 49-yard touchdown.
Despite his strong summer showing, the Falcons decided to carry only two running backs, Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson Jr., leading to Goodson's waiver. As a vested veteran, he was not subject to waivers in August and had joined the Falcons' practice squad. The Cowboys, however, claimed him following the season-ending hip injury sustained by their own running back, Malik Davis.
Goodson's NFL journey began as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers after a successful college career at Iowa. He spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, accumulating 264 rushing yards and one touchdown. In Dallas, he will compete for the third running back position behind established players, aiming to contribute to the team's depth.
