Coventry Streets Swamped by Football Fans' Parking Chaos

Residents in Coventry are experiencing a parking "nightmare" due to football fans attending matches at the CBS Arena. Three specific roads—Glentworth Avenue, Malmesbury Road, and Charlecote Road—have become overflow parking areas for supporters. This issue arose after the creation of a permit zone, the Arena Zone, which reserves parking for residents around the stadium during Coventry City home games. Consequently, fans are now parking in these residential streets, even though they are more than a mile from the stadium. Supporters utilize a nearby bus route from the Craftsman Pub to reach the ground. One Glentworth Road resident described the situation as "ridiculous," highlighting difficulties for visiting family members who now struggle to find parking. The petition initiated by affected residents has garnered limited support so far, with only 19 signatures collected on Glentworth Avenue. The Coventry City Council has stated that new parking restrictions cannot be considered unless 60% of the residents back the call, a threshold not yet met.
