6 Apr
Summary
- Cornish Pirates dropped to seventh place after a loss.
- Coach Gavin Cattle believes three wins are needed.
- The team faces four consecutive matches against top-six rivals.
The Cornish Pirates are facing a difficult path to secure a spot in the Championship play-offs, currently sitting in seventh place after a crucial loss to fellow top-six rivals Bedford. Coach Gavin Cattle described the situation as having "a mountain to climb".
The team's recent form includes a second consecutive defeat, following a home loss to Worcester Warriors. This period has also seen assistant coach Alan Paver handed a six-game ban.
Looking ahead, the Pirates have a challenging schedule with their final four matches all scheduled against teams currently in the top six. Cattle estimates that winning three of these tough encounters will be necessary for any play-off aspirations.
The critical run of fixtures begins with Chinnor next week, followed by away games against Ealing and Hartpury, and a home fixture against Coventry.
