Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard left Friday's game against the St. Louis Blues with a right shoulder injury sustained on a faceoff with 0.8 seconds remaining. The team confirmed Bedard will not play in Saturday's home game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Coach Jeff Blashill described the incident as a "freak accident" and indicated that more information regarding the severity of the injury would be available early next week. Bedard, who has 19 goals and 25 assists this season, previously missed 14 games after suffering a broken jaw on January 5, 2024.
Bedard had contributed two assists in Friday's contest, including one on Wyatt Kaiser's first-period goal and another on André Burakovsky's third-period goal. The Blackhawks ultimately fell to the Blues, extending their recent losing streak to three losses in four games.
