Commandment Clinches Florida Derby in Photo Finish!

Commandment secured a thrilling win in the Florida Derby on Saturday, clinching victory by the slimmest of margins in a photo finish. The horse completed a remarkable worst-to-first rally, overtaking The Puma in the final moments. This marks Commandment's fourth consecutive win, with jockey Flavien Prat guiding him to success.

Trainer Brad Cox expressed immense pride in Commandment's performance, highlighting his consistent effort and Grade 1 winner status. The win earns Commandment 100 points toward the Road to the Kentucky Derby leaderboard, essentially securing his spot in the prestigious race on May 2 at Churchill Downs. Cox, achieving a rare back-to-back Florida Derby win, noted the horse's "great mind" as a key asset for the upcoming Triple Crown challenge.

Historically, the Florida Derby has been a strong predictor for the Kentucky Derby, with 26 past winners of this race going on to win the Kentucky Derby. This prep race has also produced 21 different winners who have claimed 31 Triple Crown series races. Meanwhile, in Dubai, Wonder Dean won the UAE Derby, continuing a streak of Japanese-trained winners in that race and also preparing for a run at the Kentucky Derby.
