- Event centers on children receiving medical care and families.
The 46th annual Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon and Half Marathon took place in Columbus, Ohio, from October 16-18, 2026, drawing over 15,000 participants. This event is uniquely recognized as "America's Most Meaningful Race" due to its profound connection with children undergoing medical treatment.
Since 2012, the marathon has successfully raised more than $15 million for Nationwide Children's Hospital. In 2025 alone, over $1.4 million was generated. A significant aspect of the race is that 24 of its 26.2 miles are dedicated to representing patients at the hospital.
Additional miles are designated as an inspirational mile for children lost too soon and an "alumni mile" for past patient champions. Patients and their families actively participate along the course, cheering runners and visually representing the impact of their support.
The event also includes the 20th half marathon, the fifth Jesse Owens 5K, and a 1-mile race, all contributing to the hospital's mission of supporting children and families in need of medical care.
