Indianapolis Colts assistant general manager Ed Dodds signaled that quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. will likely remain with the team. The Colts intend to prioritize having robust quarterback depth following a challenging season last year.
Dodds stated the team's goal is to have three quarterbacks capable of playing, emphasizing that Richardson would be part of this plan if he remains one of their options. He cited the unpredictability of the NFL season, referencing the team's need to activate Philip Rivers from retirement last season after injuries to Daniel Jones and Richardson.
Richardson, a highly drafted player, had his future with the Colts called into question after requesting a trade in February. Although the team permitted his agent to explore deals, no trade materialized. He has since returned for offseason activities.
In his preseason debut on Thursday in New England, Richardson showcased his potential, completing 11 of 14 passes for 145 yards and contributing 53 rushing yards on six carries.
