Today, December 20, 2025, marks a pivotal day in the College Football Playoff, with four quarterfinal games set to determine the eight teams advancing. This round follows Alabama's earlier victory, securing their spot against top-ranked Indiana in the Rose Bowl. The day's matchups promise significant intrigue, featuring both established powerhouses and newcomers to the playoff format.
Arguably the most anticipated game is between No. 10 Miami and No. 7 Texas A&M. Both teams are making their inaugural playoff appearances, largely propelled by crucial September wins over Notre Dame. This contest features dynamic offenses and susceptible defenses, suggesting a high-scoring affair with the potential for game-changing turnovers.
Further excitement comes with No. 11 Tulane facing No. 6 Mississippi, a rematch from the regular season where Ole Miss dominated. Also, No. 12 James Madison makes its playoff debut against No. 5 Oregon. These games are critical as teams vie for advancement, with the early possessions likely to dictate the momentum and outcome of each contest.
