The tournament featured a competitive field of 123 golfers. However, the event was also marked by surprising underperformances from several favored players.
Michael Thorbjornsen, initially considered a strong contender with odds of +2200, failed to make the cut after rounds of 72 and 71. Christiaan Bezuidenhout, whose odds were +4000, tied for 37th place with a score of 5-under par. Aaron Rai, with odds of +3300, secured a tie for 23rd place.
Other notable golfers who did not meet expectations included Daniel Berger, who tied for 32nd at 6-under par despite odds of +2700, and Max McGreevy, who tied for 40th at 4-under par with odds of +3500. Keita Nakajima also withdrew after the first round.
