York Knights have secured the services of half-back Cody Hunter through a permanent two-year contract. The 24-year-old Australian, originally from the Sunshine Coast Falcons in Queensland Cup, initially joined Newcastle Thunder last winter. Hunter quickly made an impact at Thunder, scoring an impressive 10 tries in 11 Championship appearances during the early part of the campaign.
His performances earned him a loan move to York Knights in April. Head coach Mark Applegarth highlighted Hunter's potential, stating that he is still a relatively young player with his best years ahead. The Knights concluded their inaugural Super League season by finishing in 10th place, securing their position with wins in their final two games.
