No. 4 seed Flavio Cobolli is set to clash with fellow Italian Matteo Berrettini in the second round of the Vienna Open, an ATP 500 event. The match is scheduled for Thursday at the Wiener Stadthalle.
Cobolli advanced by defeating Grigor Dimitrov in a hard-fought three-set encounter. He aims to secure his second tour-level title of the season. Berrettini, a 30-year-old Italian, made an impressive start by defeating Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets.
This marks the inaugural tour-level meeting between Cobolli and Berrettini, with their head-to-head record currently standing at 0-0. Betting odds slightly favor Berrettini, whose powerful serve proved effective in his first-round match.
Berrettini showcased his serving prowess, winning 83% of his first-serve points and saving all break points faced. Cobolli, while successful on his first serve, faced difficulties breaking his opponent's serve and made a higher number of unforced errors. Cobolli is motivated to win as he targets a spot in the ATP Finals.
