The CMCS Bluejays girls basketball team, ranked sixth, is preparing to compete for the Section 3A title. They recently achieved a major victory against MACCRAY, the Class A state runner-up and defending Section 3A champion, in the Section 3A-North final. This win avenged a loss from the previous season.
Leading the charge for the Bluejays is junior guard Sienna Duininck, a two-time All-Area First Team selection. In the pivotal game against MACCRAY, Duininck showcased an exceptional performance, scoring 34 points, along with 10 steals and nine rebounds.
The Bluejays, the North's top seed, will face the South's top-seeded Hills-Beaver Creek team on Thursday at Southwest Minnesota State University. Hills-Beaver Creek, known for its strong defense allowing an average of 41.1 points per game, presents a formidable challenge.
This championship game represents a significant moment for CMCS, as they are vying for their third state berth and first in 25 years. Head coach Brian Nelson expressed immense pride in his team's maturity and performance in big games throughout the season.
