Beckman's Club Reign Dominates Saratoga Debut

Trainer Whit Beckman kicked off Travers Day at Saratoga Race Course with a dominant performance from his promising 2-year-old colt, Club Reign. The colt secured a resounding six-length victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight race, crossing the finish line in 1:11.27 and earning a 73 Beyer Speed Figure.

Club Reign, owned by Ribble Farms, Three Brand Racing, and Walmac Farm, showed exceptional talent in his afternoon debut. Three Brand Racing is the racing name of Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson, who attended the race with his wife, Ciara, and their family.

Beckman expressed his satisfaction with the colt's performance, noting his consistent talent in morning workouts. He mentioned that the Champagne Stakes (G1) on October 3 at Belmont Park, a one-turn mile race, is a potential next step. This race offers a "Win and You're In" berth to the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Beckman also provided updates on other trainees. Ocelli, who competed in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, finished ninth in the Travers. Kokomotion and Bring the Smoke also had sixth-place finishes on Travers Day. All starters returned in good condition.
