Nike has initiated its groundbreaking Blue Ribbon Elite program, specifically designed to foster deeper collaboration with student-athletes and university athletic programs. This initiative marks a significant expansion of Nike's engagement within the college sports landscape.
Clemson University is a key partner in this new venture, with a specific group of its student-athletes, representing multiple sports, selected for participation. This program celebrates a quarter-century alliance between Nike and Clemson.
Five Clemson Football players have been announced as part of the program: junior wide receiver T.J. Moore, senior defensive end Will Heldt, sophomore running back Gideon Davidson, junior wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr., and junior cornerback Ashton Hampton. Nike has also secured NIL partnerships with high school recruits, including five-star wide receiver commit Jamarin Simmons.
Senior defensive end Will Heldt described his inclusion as a lifelong ambition fulfilled. He noted Nike's intention to increase its presence in college football, forming a roster of 50 to 60 college athletes. Heldt's performance in the previous season, with 46 tackles and 7.5 sacks, contributed to his selection.
Nike states its partnership aims to extend beyond mere brand representation. The company intends to inspire student bodies and communities through collaborative brand campaigns, product innovation, and creative direction. This aligns with Clemson's ethos of developing athletes both on and off the field.
