CJ Carr: Top 10 Heisman Candidate Faces Pressure
25 Sep
Summary
- Notre Dame QB CJ Carr ranked ninth among Heisman candidates.
- Carr has led the Fighting Irish to a 3-0 season start.
- He faces Purdue in an upcoming road game on Saturday.
Notre Dame's star quarterback, CJ Carr, has been recognized by Sports Illustrated as a top-10 "True Heisman Candidate" following Week 3, currently holding the No. 9 spot. Although he was SI's preseason Heisman pick, his performance has been solid but not yet spectacular enough to distinguish him significantly.
Carr has guided the Fighting Irish to an undefeated 3-0 record this season. His statistics include a 72.6% completion rate for 726 yards and six passing touchdowns, complemented by one rushing touchdown. Notably, he was held without a touchdown pass in his most recent game against the Spartans, though he did score on the ground.
The team is preparing for their next challenge on the road against Purdue, who currently holds a 1-2 record. Carr's standing as a Heisman contender will likely depend on future performances against strong opponents.
