Two-Time World Cup Champion Christen Press Retires from Soccer

Christen Press, a renowned American soccer player, has announced her retirement from professional football following the current National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season. The 36-year-old forward, who has been a key member of the U.S. national team for over a decade, is hanging up her boots after an illustrious career.
Press, who was the first signing for Angel City FC in 2022, has won two World Cup titles with the U.S. in 2015 and 2019, as well as an Olympic bronze medal in 2021. Over the course of her national team career, she has appeared in 155 matches, scoring 64 goals and providing 43 assists.
In addition to her success with the national team, Press has also played professionally in Sweden and the NWSL, representing the Chicago Red Stars, Utah Royals, and Angel City FC. She also had a stint with Manchester City in England.
Despite suffering a torn ACL in her right knee last year, Press made a comeback and played eight games for Angel City FC before announcing her retirement. She is one of the founders of RE-INC., a commercial and advocacy platform for equity issues, and also hosts a popular women's soccer YouTube series called The RE-CAP Show with her wife, former national team player Tobin Heath, who retired earlier this year.
