Six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy has detailed his arduous 12-week recovery following a serious mountain bike accident sustained in early November. The crash resulted in multiple fractures to his lower right leg and knee, necessitating emergency surgery where metal rods and screws were inserted.
Hoy, who publicly disclosed his terminal cancer diagnosis in October 2024, shared a video illustrating his rehabilitation. This process included extensive physiotherapy and soft tissue therapy, enabling him to regain mobility.
Just five weeks post-surgery, Hoy was back on an exercise bike, and by eleven weeks, he was walking unaided. He returned to cycling outdoors a week later, marking the completion of his physical recovery from the crash.
