Chesterfield Football Club has announced the signing of veteran forward Freddie Ladapo, who has agreed to a contract through to the end of the current season. The 32-year-old striker joins the League Two club as a free agent, having mutually agreed to end his contract with Huddersfield Town in October. Ladapo's extensive career includes spells at Crystal Palace, Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham United, and Ipswich Town, where he has achieved promotion three times.
In a separate move, Chesterfield has also completed the signing of 23-year-old defender Malik Owolabi-Belewu. This deal was initially agreed upon last summer, and Owolabi-Belewu joins from Canadian club Forge FC, where he played after a stint with Italian side SPAL. The young defender expressed his excitement about developing in Canada and aims to contribute to Chesterfield's promotion ambitions.
Ladapo has been training with the Chesterfield squad for some time, and his transfer is now officially confirmed. He joins a Chesterfield team currently positioned seventh in the League Two standings. The club's recent activity in the transfer market signals a strong push towards securing promotion, with both new signings eager to contribute to the team's success.
